termcap is for use by applications.  A terminal emulator is a 
piece of software which will take VT320 (for example) escape
sequences and make your tube look and act like a VT320.

I've not heard of any VT320 emulator for anything besides DOS
and Windows machines; I typically just do "TERM=ansi" or whatever.
