Greetings: I've lost the address of the original query about setting
time/date. :^(..
Researching and trying the various suggestions - I've settled on the
easiest and best -IMHO- 'rdate', fetched from, if I can read my
handwriting; ftp.linux.org/pub/Linux/time/ ..
Our farm has three Slackware machines in various buildings with one
connected to the INet and the other two via ethernet cards to the
"master." I've labelled them; lnx.net; lnx2.net; lnx3.net, using
10.0.0.x IP addresses..
lnx.net with a dialin PPP ISP account runs 'setclock' to be sure it's
correct.. lnx2.net and lnx3.net are cron'd to run rdate -s lnx.net,
to reset their clocks in sync with lnx.net.. Invoking rdate host,
without the flag returns the remotes clock report but doesn't change
anything.
Works like a charm unless someone can find faults I don't know about.
