I have a friend who has reported similar difficulties. I've also heard
that there may have been a bug in 2.0.34 or 2.0.35 which caused the same
symtoms. It would detect it as a CD-ROM but not as the CD-R it was. It is
quite possible this same bug is in 2.2.1 (or has never been tackled).
Anyone else experience this problem? I know it affects at least a certain
type of SCSI CD-R... perhaps some more evidence to send to the author of
the driver?

It may be in the CD-R driver itself, I don't believe my friend has that
controller nor CD-R.

I too would be interested in such results so I could forward to my
friend... it is one of the only things keeping him from jumping to 2.2.1..
