Ok, first the CPU load Kpm tells me it uses about 50-70 % of my 133 Mhz
pentium depending on the settings of mp3blaster and in wich step of decoding it
is, ok compared to ie. kmp3 it�s a bit high. 
To the part about load spikes, is that when the player hicks when you access 
the  drive? In that case it is really good, i think anyway, you have to do
really big disk operations like searching or grep files from the entire Hd to
disturb it. Compared to X11 amp ? I don�t know X11 amp didn�t even compile for
me though i had all the needed files. But the best part yet to come, Mp3blaster
is small and running in the console.  I hope i answared your questions properly.
