James,

I have been pleased with netscape -composer, part of the
Communicator-4.0.5 package. At home, I use the standard package(available
without charge for limited home use). At work, I use
the professional package (included in a set of purchased software,
so I cannot quote an individual price). I have been pleased with
both.

As a webmaster, my experience with front page included
products that usually had MS extensions to HTML, unreadable
by anyone not using front page or internet explorer. Similar
problems, to a worse degree, were seen with MS Word HTML output.
So far, every tested product of netscape -composer has passed
the SGML parser with HTML-3.0 DTD from W3C.

I suggest that if you install netscape, you consider
the following security issues
        [Edit:Preferences...:Navigator:Smart Browsing]
                Enable What's Related: off
(On builds a database of your surfing at
Netscape from which it suggests related sites
                 and targets advertising.)
(Off prevents sending reports of your activity.)
        [Edit:Preferences...:Advanced]
                Enable Java: off
                Enable JavaScript: off
                Enable AutoInstall: off
                Only accept cookies ...: selected
                Warn me ... : on

The major difference in the professional package is support
of conversion and importation from other document formats.
Other differences include improved interface for link and
table editting.
