Hi, fellow penguins!
The thread on installation has prompted me to ask a question about rpm. I
like tar-balls, but I recently installed Redhat 5.2 and have started using
rpm. Unfortunately, since I usually install libraries from tar-balls, the
rpm dependencies often fail (whereupon I use the --nodep flag to install the
program).
Is there a "fast" way to update the rpm database, perhaps using ldconfig
to show it what libraries are actually available? (I don't care if
utilities, apps, etc. aren't there - I'm just concerned with libs)
