Well, you've just broken things by installing an old version of
netscape, and a version that isn't a pre-prepared rpm.

No, none at all. But at the same time, you are using the wrong
version of netscape.

Get rid of what you have installed, then go get the netscape update
RPMs for rh6.1 from ftp.redhat.com (or your nearest mirror site). It
will be version 4.7, and the rpm will go into your system and things
will be set up properly to use it.

Netscape works perfectly here for me, no problems. But others who
have done things in "non-standard" (or should I say, "non-redhat")
ways are the people (in places like the redhat mailing lists) who are
complaing about netscape problems. It has turned into an FAQ.

Use your system management tools for doing upgrades on a redhat system
(I'm referring especially to the rpm utility). And keep an eye on any
updates issued for the version of the distribution you are using.
Otherwise you are asking for the sort of troubles you are experiencing
right now.

BTW, if things don't work when you put in the 4.7 rpm, then move your
~/.netscape directory (and possibly ~/nsmail as well) sideways and try
it again.

Cheers
Tony
