Your screen grab suggestion is exactly what I'm doing right now. I suspect
that an algorithmic translation might ensure better image quality.

The dfx format is, as you guessed, a structured object based format. It
might have been introduced orginally with AutoCad. QCad can't store in
bit mapped formats, but I'm going to keep looking, because QCad isn't bad,
and I'ld like to take the drawings prepared with QCad to a Web site.
