I strongly suspect that you'll have to recompile a new kernel
after tweaking the sources to get it do what you want.

Personally, I wouldn't recommend implementing this, for the same
reasons as Irving has stated.  I would suggest that you
reconfigure your application to support more a more sensible
subdirectory structure.
