Linux-2.2.1 is very old, and I doubt that you will get it running at all
with gcc-2.95.2. You'd better go for the linux-2.2.16 (if you really want
to use 2.2) or linux-2.4.0-test8. Just get the normal linux tar.gz file
from a kernel.org mirror and use Russell King's patches from

  ftp://ftp.arm.linux.org.uk/pub/linux/arm/source/kernel-patches/

I suggest to use linux-2.4.0 because that's where all developers are
currently working on (and it is quite stable).
