I am interested in running an embedded Linux kernel on an ARM7 core (which
is part of a more complex chip). I have heard that Linux requires an MMU in
order to run.

Is this true?
Why is that?

I have heard also that there is an effort to develop a version of the kernel
that doesn't require an MMU.

What group is that?

What processors in the ARM family have an integrated MMU (if any)?

Thanks,
Steve Tuckner
