Depends which was your previous kernel. It changed about 8 months to a
year ago, or maybe more. It was certainly around the time when it got
integrated into my tree.

Yes, but it caused problems with NetWinders and any other system which
had a FB serial port with conventional 16550 ports. The only sane way
is to do things properly. If you want to discuss this point more,
