Hi,
I have an Assabet board with Neponset attached that is now running linux
2.4-2-rmk1-np3 booting from jffs2 using bootldr. The list archives were a
great help in setting this up; thank to everybody on the lists!
Now, the reason I'm writing is that I'd like to somehow attach a firewire
controller to the board, but I don't see how this could be done. The first
idea would be to use the PC-card slots on neponset, but they are 16-bit
only and it turns out that all firewire cards are 32 bit (Cardbus).
Another possibility is to get a PCI-bridge extension board and attach a
regular PCI firewire controller, but I couldn't find any more info on PCI
bridge for assabet than the short mention on page 1-3 in the SA1110 users
guide. Besides, how easy will it be to get this running?
Then there's the option of buying a firewire chipset and designing a custom
add-on board for assabet, but this is a somewhat larger task...
Finally, I could buy a new board with builtin firewire support, but so far
I haven't found any boards with that specific feature.
So, I'm writing this list in the hope that someone has a suggestion or a
reference to a 16-bit firewire pc-card... anything
thanks in advance,
