GETREGS option of Ptrace() not working !

Dear arm-linux mailing list,     we are facing problem with ptrace command on arm-linux. We cannot get the registers of a child process(who has set itself as  TRACEME ). In arm-linux 2.1 there is no support for GETREGS option of ptrace . Can somebody please tell us where i can get the patch for just the ptrace (not the whole linux tree). or how one can get the registers of a child process without ptrace.
