I have been trying to get a copy of Linux running on a custom EP7211 board for several days, with no luck. The board has 8MB of DRAM on the first bank (0xc0000000), 2MB Flash at 0x00000000, and NO display, therefore I need it to boot with a serial console. I tried using miket's prebuilt kernels, along with his initrds, with no luck. (This could be due to the fact that I did not use shoehorn or hermit to download the images). I also tried using Cirrus Logic's instructions (from www.maverickaudio.com) for building a kernel using kernel 2.2.1 and their provided jsdiff, initrd, and make_bin files. However, it appears that they don't enable a serial console in the kernel, but I am not sure which setting to change. Am I missing something? Are the kernel image and the initrd files the only things I need to store to flash, or is there a seperate boot loader that must be stored as well? If not that's not the problem, how can I enable the serial console? Thanks for any help.
