XScale provides for on-the-fly software controlled core frequency scaling and it
tolerates its core supply voltage being scaled dynamically as well. Of course,
implementing core supply voltage scaling will require a suitable
digitally-controlled switching regulator on your board.
Our 80200EVB eval board has a core supply regulator that is adjustable but not
via software. I have heard of customers bypassing the on-board supply by using
a Maxim MAX1855 switching regulator eval board. This can produce 0.6V to 1.75V
for the core based on a 5-bit output controlled by software.
