Tim,

If you're going to load things by name in the bootldr, then the
partitions should match that of the kernel.  It's a convenience thing in
the bootldr, because you can always use
        load flash <addr>
to program flash anywhere.

The kernel uses the partitions to mount filesystems, etc., so those
partitions have to be correct.

If you can update the bootldr, then you can use bootldr partition tables
which are compiled into neither the bootldr or the kernel.
