You haven't explicitly said so, but I'm assuming your design is based on the SA-11x0 processor, and that you are using the integrated LCD controller. I suspect the only way you're going to be truly happy with 640x480 @ 16bpp (assuming 60Hz) is to ditch the LCD controller and go with a graphics accelerator device. On Spot, I've tried all manner of foolishness (control registers, overclocking, software changes to the ISA emulation routines to dodge the PCMCIA/LCD DMA priority inversion bug). In the end, we still see jitter when the NIC gets going. We finally gave up and are respinning the design with an MQ200.
