I used linux Mandrake 5.3 to build the cross
development enviroment. Kernel
version is 2.0.36.
When I tried to build it under Redhat 6.1 following
intel's procedure, I also cannot
go through building c++ compiler.
According to intel's materials, Redhat 5.2 is
recommended. I think you can try to
use Redhat 5.2 if you cannot get linux Mandrake 5.3.

Anyway, if you cannot build c++ compiler, I think you
can continue building
arm-linux kernel and downloading the arm-linux kernel
and ram disk to brutus .

Or you can try building new version toolchain by
referring
http://www.inkvine.fluff.org/~chris/arm-tools.html.
I am now doing it under Redhat 6.1.

You don't need a gzip one. I use the same one as
yours.
