That patch is outdated.  I think gcc 2.95.2 contains a better alternative.

The gcc-2.95-diff-990730.gz you are using is also out of date.  The best thing 
is to get the "2.95.3" patch from ftp.netwinder.org:/users/p/philb in which 
case it will be configured for new binutils by default.

You failed to give the `--target' option, which is why you are building a 
native compiler.  Please read the GCC documentation.
