!Linux by default boots the first entry in the bootmap file (and therefore
the first entry in /etc/boot.conf). Just place the entry that you want to
be the default selection at the top of the file.

It seems to depend on the exact version of the network card you have. Some
ether3's fall over left right and centre, whereas others are 100% stable.
The same seems to be true of etherh's.
However, if you can provide information about which kernel, and what the
chip is that is on the etherh, I'll look into it.
