If that is a new feature in A4 it's an excellent idea. Regarding A4: I noticed that even when it discovers that Jack is already running, it invites me to set the sample rate and period size. And the suggested values are not the ones actually used. What it the rationale for this ? IMHO no app should ever try to 'take control' of a running Jack instance at all - it's a shared service.
