gdam 0.941 is now available
for those who don't aren't familiar, gdam is a music
performance and authoring package which specializes
in digital dj-mixing and hardware control.
features of particular interest to lad'ders:
* gui skins rendered from xml using pixmapped sliders, knobs, and buttons
* ladspa plugin support (one and two channel filters only)
* custom ladspa skins can override default autogenerated skins,
even a filter as volumous as 'hermes' is rendered silky and
manageable. (see screenshot)
* extra skins can be written for any ladspa filter, i.e. we distribute
3- and 5-band eq skins for the ladspa 15-band eq. (see screenshot)
* save and load ladspa filter presets, also load 'default' preset
on filter creation. we include default settings for many
filters, equivalent to 'passthrough' wherever possible so that
filters can be added in a live setting w/o immediately disturbing the
sound.
* ladspa filters and all gdam skins can load xml files containing
descriptions of harware control bindings
* sampler does peak detection on a loop, breaks into hits, then
allows cubase-style graphical sequencing or algorithmic re-rhythming.
(sampler is a work in progress and won't be available unless
you run the gui with "--define unstable")

gdam hasn't yet been tested with alsa 0.9 native,
but should definitely work with 0.9 + oss emulation.
