I thought of that name too... but some people, when they hear that name, might think of "media" in terms of "the press", "reporters", "news people", etc. And "free media" is even worse... in terms of potential confusion. I think we need to use a different word other than "media"... if we are going to use "open" or "free" in front of it. (Although I'm not sure what could be used. Maybe "art"?... ummm... maybe not.) Or else maybe we could call it something like: "Open Media Developers", "Open Media Development" "Free Media Developers", "Free Media Development", or something like that. (That would be less likely to cause confusion.) Oh... BTW... I've been talking about you idea with some of the other people at GStreamer... and (with those that I talked with at least)... they are interested. So... your idea has the interest of people who work on: GStreamer <http://gstreamer.net/>, matterial <http://www.matterial.org/>, MJPEG Tools <http://mjpeg.sourceforge.net/>, and GNOME <http://www.gnome.org/>.
