Sounds like you've never heard one of these cards in action. The entire analog section is mu-metal shielded, and in terms of quality can stand with the best of the "external" designs. Personally, I define "professional" as that which meets a certain standard of quality in operation and features, which these cards certainly do. *How* that is achieved is really irrelevant.
