Horeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, Delphi for Linux :) http://www.it-director.com/99-08-23-1.html =============================================================================== Inprise (previously Borland) has carried out a developer survey of 24,000 developers, which revealed that over 40 percent of respondents were interested in developing with Delphi on Linux and 40 percent were also interested in using a C/C++ development tool on Linux. The results also indicate that the majority of developers participating in the survey are planning application development and client server database development projects on Linux. Consequently Inprise intends to port most if not all of its development products to Linux. The porting of Delphi is particularly important because it is estimated that there are over 1 million Delphi developers. The company has been shipping InterBase its database product on Linux for over a year - but that product was developed under Unix anyway and always had a Unix incarnation. Inprise has now announced the immediate availability of VisiBroker, its ORB, for Linux and also has a Linux version of its Java development tool, JBuilder. Delphi and the C tools will follow. The porting of a product like Delphi is a significant move even for Linux, which seems to be attracting new applications and software products on a daily basis. However Borland has not yet said which Linux GUIs will be supported. If Borland provides code level portability then a whole bundle of Delphi based applications will suddenly be available on Linux. -- Zakaria <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>Monday, 23rd August 1999 --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Utk berhenti langganan, kirim email ke [EMAIL PROTECTED] Informasi arsip di http://www.linux.or.id/milis.php3 Pengelola dapat dihubungi lewat [EMAIL PROTECTED] Hosted by http://www.Indoglobal.com
