Hi,
I am trying to format a RAID drive running off of a Intel Server RAID
controller (SRCU21), I have downloaded the drivers and configurations
software, have upgraded the kernel to 2.2.16-9mdk and have turned on i2o
controls. The instructions say to next format the RAID drive using fdisk
/dev/i2o/hda, but I get an error message of segmentation fault (core
dumped). Can anyone tell me what is going on, and how do I get around the
problem. I am running Mandrake 7.1. Thanks Marie

I am trying to install the RAID 5 Intel SRCU21 controller.
I have installed RH 71. and updated to kernel 2.4.7. Rebuilt kernel with i2o
support and restarted the computer.
After rebooting I could access the RAID volume on /dev/i2o/hda. But, when I
tried to partition the RAID volume
after typed the fdisk command, I got the following message:
"This device does not have a valid DOS parition, neither Sun, OSF or SGI
disk label."
I tried to create a primary partition 1, but I was only able to specify the
first cylinder.
Using fdisk p command, I got the following message:
"Disco /dev/i2o/hda: 1 cabeas, 88862720 setores, 1 cilindros
Unidades = cilindros de 88862720 * 512 bytes
Dispositivo Boot Incio Fim Blocos Id Sistema
/dev/i2o/hda1 1 1 44431359+ 83 Linux
A partio 1 possui fins fsico/lgico diferentes:
fs. = (0, 0, 0) lgico = (0, 0, 88862720)
A partio 1 no termina em um limite de cilindro:
fs. = (0, 0, 0) deveria ser (0, 0, 88862720)"
The installation procedures says to install RH6.2 and update kernel source.
I used RH 7.2 but I believe that this is not the
problem.
Best regards,
