PCTEL Linux PCI driver, version 4.27.211
----------------------------------------
Description
-----------
This package should let you compile the PCTEL Linux PCI modem driver for
various Linux 2.2.x kernels.
The driver has 2 modules:
pctel.o -> This module contains all PCTEL proprietary code
which includes Control code, DSP code, and Firmware code.
ptserial.o -> This module is the system code which is based on Open Source
code "serial.c" in the Linux OS.
Installation
------------
0) Unpack the tarball by typing "tar zxvf pctel-2.2.tar.gz"
1) Go into that directory by typing "cd pctel-2.2"
2) Make sure you have kernel 2.2.x by typing "uname -r"
3) Optional for experienced users (not necessary):
Edit the Makefile for the 2 modules:
Makefile for pctel.o : src/module
Makefile for ptserial.o : src/ptserial
You can select the HAL chip, which is in your modem. Select one of:
HAL_CM8738, HAL_PCT789, HAL_I810, HAL_VIA686A
By default, HAL_PCT789 is selected.
4) Compile the modules by typing "make"
5) If everything went fine, get root by typing "su"
7) install the drivers by typing "make install"
8) You are now ready to use your modules.
Type "insmod pctel" and "insmod ptserial".
You should see in your logs ("tail /var/log/messages") something like:
Apr 26 01:17:13 suba kernel: ptserial.o init. country_code = 0
Apr 26 01:17:13 suba kernel: PCTEL device (68) found: irq = 9, base =
0xcc00
Apr 26 01:17:13 suba kernel: Serial driver version 4.27.211 (PCT789)
(12-18-00) with HUB-6 MANY_PORTS MULTIPORT SHARE_IRQ enabled
Apr 26 01:17:13 suba kernel: ttyS15 at 0xcc00 (irq = 9) is a PCtel
Notes:
You can always uninstall the modules by typing "make uninstall". If you
need to recompile the modules, "make clean" and "make" are your friends.

your console.
output of the following commands can be helpful:
$ make clean
$ make
$ make install
$ insmod pctel
$ insmod ptserial

do not just write me "it did not work", otherwise, I might be unable to help
