"The Advanced Package Tool (APT) is a wrapper around rpm, enhancing and
improving rpm's functionality. A more detailed explanation is provided
in the unofficial SuSE FAQs and of course the apt howto. The information
on this page is mostly valid for SuSE 7.3 and 8.0 users as the server is
hosting the apt repositories/rpms for these 2 SuSE versions.

You may realize that apt has been ported from Debian packages to rpm by
Conectiva. SuSE and Conectiva among others are both part of United
Linux. Let's see in which this will result concerning official apt
support by SuSE...."
