Sorry for the cross-posting. I suspect that snapshot-users@ is not
very well known in BR, unfortunately.

We started to upload and sync a PowerPC experimental repository. We don't
have many powerpc machines (just an iMac, an old ppc-8600 and an ibook),
but we are starting to compile our SRPMS for this platform also.

The repository is available at:

rpm ftp://ftp.conectiva.com.br/pub/conectiva snapshot/ppc main

(and mirrors, of course, should be picking it up soon)

There are no source packages specific for PPC, we are using a single source
of SRPMS packages for all ports.

Some notes:
- pkglist, hashfile and the rpm packages are not yet guaranteed to be in sync
with each other, we are still working on some scripts because this whole
upload thing now has to deal with many different machines. An out-of-sync
problem should not happen often, though, since the upload is done at a
time when things are calm around here (very early in the morning).
- in these first days I sometimes start a manual sync with the ftp site during
working hours to test modifications to the scripts
- this repository should be signed anytime soon now with the same snapshot key.
Which, by the way, has been corrected, hashfile.gpg should be ok in the
  snapshot/i386 area now.
- no installer yet, in order to use Conectiva's PPC repository you will have
to install some PPC distribution and slowly migrate to Conectiva packages.
I started with Yellow Dog and a minimal install, the 2.2 version even has
apt for RPM out of the box :)
- packages are still being ported, expect the current number of packages
(currently at 806) to grow in the following days and weeks. Some are older
than snapshot, we are picking up.
- PPC has only one repository now and it's called "main". We are just dumping
all packages there, it doesn't matter if it's kde, gnome or something else.
Such separation will come with time.
- no kernel rpm package yet, this will probably be the last package we port. For
now, stick with your preferred tarball from kernel.org or something else.

Finally, it would help to know the demand for this port. So, if you like it,
or would like to use it, please speak up :) For now,
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
is the best place for discussions about this port, since it is snapshot-related.

Have fun.
