Nope. A daemon is not associated with any controlling terminal.
Do not confuse background processes with daemons.
You can have another program communicate with a daemon using
one of IPC methods or sockets. If you really must attempt to
run before you can crawl "Advanced Programming in the Unix
Environment", by W. Richard Stevens is an excellent book that
covers such matters.
(It requires a good knowledge of the C language and how to
program, two totally different things)
