You should really try using a diffrent text editor.
Though such programs like VI(VIM) or emacs may be very hard to use you
should still try learning them, its worth while to do so.
Infact vim has a "syntax mode" especially for C or for other
programming langauges. And emacs has a C mode which is especially used
to edit C code.
