First, you should have glibc-2 (a.k.a. libc-6) installed, along with
the linuxthreads package.

Then, refer to the linuxthreads homepage:

        http://pauillac.inria.fr/~xleroy/linuxthreads

Also, see the pthread_* manual pages (which will be installed as part
of the linuxthreads package).
