Dear friends,
Thanks for your help! my problem has been solved, and my
serial I/O program
is working. It was an extremely stupid error, I had connected the TxD and
RxD pins of the serial connectors the wrong way around. It dawned on me
today that the TxD & RxD pin numbers are not the same for a 9 pin and a 25
pin serial connector, i.e. pin no. 2 of the 9 pin connector has to be
connected to pin no. 2 of the 25 pin connector, and pin 3 to the other pin
3 , (and NOT pin 2 to pin no. 3 and vice versa ). Sorry for having
bothered you all.
Also sorry for posting the previous message twice by mistake! The send
function of pine showed that the message could not be saved to the "sent
mail " folder due to lack of space. I assumed that the message wasn't sent
and so I tried re-sending it.
Thanks anyway!
It's great to be a part of a Linux community.
I hope to contribute a lot after I learn some more! :-)
