Welcome to the weekly newsletter of the Linux Professional Institute(tm)! LPI is dedicated to providing a standardized, multi-national, and respected program to certify levels of individual expertise in Linux. Our goal is to design and deliver such a program from within the Linux community, using both volunteer and hired resources as necessary. We resolve to undertake a well considered, open, disciplined development process, leading directly to the establishment of a recognized and widely endorsed Linux certification body. ------------------------------------------------------------------ What's News? ------------ T1a Is On Track For November Release ------------------------------------ As I mentioned briefly last week, we'd assembled all the resources we'd needed to finish our first test, T1a. Scott ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) reports that T1a will be ready to go to our preprocessing vendor, Galton Technologies, before next week. From there the test should be shipped off to VUE and then to worldwide deployment! Great work everyone! We've taken a big step down a long road. Scott also asked me to remind everyone that we're accepting questions for T1b and all of our distribution specific exams, T2a-f, and that we still need reviewers for the T2 exams; at last count I believe we had three distributions covered. Where the Heck is the Incorporation Documentation? -------------------------------------------------- Now that we're an official non-profit corporation, many of you have been asking about our articles of incorporation and our by-laws. We do plan on posting these documents to our web site within the next week. Stay tuned to this space for more specific information. Comdex Volunteers Still Needed ------------------------------ We still need volunteers to help staff the booth at Comdex. This should be an exiting show to help out at, given the proximity of our first test release. Evan ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) is in the process of scheduling a major press conference to announce a number of LPI milestones, so we'll need plenty of help fielding questions. If you'll be hanging around in Vegas and want to volunteer, please drop me a line ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) so that I can get you into the schedule. Thanks in advance to the folks who've already volunteered to run things out at Oracle's big conference. (I'm away from my normal mail box or I'd thank everyone specifically right now.) Your help is greatly appreciated.
