In the near future, LPI will incorporate and have an official board of 7 members. Initially, the board will be filled mainly with the people now in the steering committee (currently 6 members). These people have been putting vast amounts of time in LPI. Some have deferred seeking better job opportunities, but they will take another job sooner or later. Given their interests and expertise, those are likely to be jobs related to Linux. Therefore conflicts of interest may arise between their function as LPI board members, and their employment for a Linux company. Competent board members should have sufficient professional stature to separate these two functions and withstand improper pressure from either side. Nevertheless we accepted a policy in order to avoid any one company to obtain a real or perceived controlling influence in the LPI board. The policy is: In order to prevent real, or perceived, conflicts of interest within the LPI board the following policies are adopted: Board members shall not accept a position in a company or organization having an interest in Linux, or in training or certification within the computer industry, without approval of the majority of the remaining board members. All board members shall disclose to the LPI board, ownership of any stock, options, or other assets in companies with a potential interest in Linux certification. Furthermore the LPI board resolves that no more than two of the board members will be employed by the same company. ============================================================================== -- #>!$!%(@^%#%*(&(#@#*$^@^$##*#@&(%)@**$!(&!^(#((#&%!)%*@)(&$($$%(@#)&*!^$)^@*^@) Tom "thriving on chaos" Peters NL-1062 KD nr 149 tel. 31-204080204 Amsterdam e-mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] ________________________________________________________________________ This message was sent by the linux-cert mailing list.
