Ok, this may be a really stupid question, but I hope I can get an answer
here. Is there a "true" limit on the length of a Userid in linux? I have
heard from some people that the limit is 8 characters, and I consider this
"somewhat backed up" by the way the "adduser" program that comes with
slackware3.5 only allows userids to be 8 characters, but some interfaces,
like webmin, will let you add users with as many characters as you want, the
largest I have tried was 17 characters "trevorleereynolds".
Any input on this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
