If everything is working, then ignore them. If they are driving you
nuts, then you can shut it up by doing this:
% cat >> /etc/conf.modules
alias net-pf-3 off # don't ever load the ax25 module
alias net-pf-4 off # don't ever load the ipx module
alias net-pf-5 off # don't ever load the appletalk module
You can do the same for nls-cp437 but you really should have that one
available. (Code page 437 is, if I recall, standard US code page,
similar to what dos used to use by default).

I'm not sure about block-major-8 but I'm pretty sure that this refers
to the scsi hard drive devices. If you don't have a scsi card/HD on
your system, you can turn this off the same way. If you do, then I
guess that it would be obvious that it isn't working :-)
Warning: this works for kerneld with 2.0.x kernels, and I have yet to
find the time to start playing around with the new 2.2.x kernels.
I would presume that things aren't _too_ different in this regard with
the new kmod stuff, so other people will have to correct me here.
Actually, if my suggestion works, then I'd appreciate a reply to let
me (us) know...
Cheers
Tony
