If you're using kernel 2.[12].*, then you need something like this in your
/etc/conf.modules:
alias parport_lowlevel parport_pc
options parport_pc io=0x378,0x278 irq=7,auto
alias char-major-6 lp
options lp parport=0
The last options means that your first parport is lp0 and NOT lp1 like
in 2.0.* kernels
