Use the ramdisk_size=131072 kernel boot option to change the
default max size of a ram disk to 128MB (131072KB).

Look in /usr/doc/HOWTO/BootPrompt for details or unpack the
kernel source and look in Documentation/ramdisk.txt.

Assuming you use lilo add the line
  append="ramdisk_size=131072"
to /etc/lilo.conf under the image= area and rerun lilo.

According to the docs the default max size without this option
is supposed to be 4MB, but I can make larger ramdisks without
problems (I've only tried up to 12 MB). The code in rd.c
specifies a 4MB max too. (Just pointing out that there is quite
a bit about RAM disks that I obviously don't understand.)

Good luck,
Tony Richardson
