Ok, this is all I know.....
[lordvadr /home/ftp/bin]$ file ls
ls: ELF 32-bit LSB executable, Intel 80386, version 1, dynamically linked,
stripped

What difference dies it make if it's statically linked or not?  I don't
know.  All I did to break it was "chown root.ftp -R *", and it broke it.
