Have you tried adding a line of boot parameters??

I have two SCSI cards and the 2940UW is recognized but the 1522 isn't.  So I
add the following at boot time:

aha152x=0x0140,10,1,0

or close to that showing that I am using  address x140 and IRQ 10.   I plugged
those options on the card...  No pnp involved.
