As I have not yet found a Linux tool which can resize an EXT2 partition in
place, as "dd" can be used to copy an EXT2 partition but is really very
prone to user error, and just because I think that you might all like to
know, PartitionMagic 4.0 has full support for EXT2 partition manipulation.
I have just used it to reconfigure my disks. It was so much easier than
the way I used to have to do this sort of thing, it took so much less
time, and it must have gotten it right as my system is still running just
as stably as before. It even let me label my EXT2 partitions (/, /var,
/opt, etc.) so that I no longer had to keep track of which partition
number contained which chunk of data. It also supports the creation and
formatting of Linux swap partitions.
