The premises are as follows: Digital 3200 Server, 2xPII 266/128MB/2x4GB SCSI There was no IDE on board and as I got some cheap 8GB IDE drive (backup), I added some older ISA IDE controller. I couldn't have had it detected by the 'System Configuration Utility' (SCU) because SCU requires board info on 'manufacturer provided floppy'. Fortunately Linux detects it just fine. There is IDE support compiled into kernel. Even the ide spindown works flawlessly. Of course it boots from SCSI. Though the board interrupt is 14, at boot time Linux complains: Oct 14 08:20:57 digital kernel: hdb: QUANTUM Bigfoot TX8.0AT, ATA DISK drive Oct 14 08:20:57 digital kernel: ide0: unexpected interrupt, status=0xff, count=1 Oct 14 08:20:57 digital kernel: ide0 at 0x1f0-0x1f7,0x3f6 on irq 14 Oct 14 08:20:57 digital kernel: hdb: QUANTUM Bigfoot TX8.0AT, 7665MB w/69kB Cache, CHS=15574/16/63 But all works just fine. Except for those messages (from time to time): Oct 14 14:20:12 digital modprobe: can't locate module block-major-22 Oct 14 14:20:12 digital modprobe: can't locate module block-major-22
