RedHat uses a kernel that has been patched to make the sound code modular (ie, separate out the modules for sound.o, opl3.o, sb.o and so on). I believe that this is a project that has been going on for a while, and it could now be in the mainstream 2.1.x (and forthcoming 2.2.x) kernels (but I could be wrong about this). What you'll have to do is to grab the 2.0.35 kernel source rpm(s) from ftp.redhat.com (or mirrors) and use that for what you want to do, and rebuild your kernel in the "redhat way" of doing these things (which is described in one of their mini-HOWTOs/FAQs or their install guide). However, I can give no guarantees at all that this will finally solve your problem as I've never tried it. (Wish I had an awe64 myself:) Cheers Tony -=*#*=-=*#*=-=*#*=-=*#*=-=*#*=-=*#*=-=*#*=-=*#*=-=*#*=-=*#*=-=*#*=- Tony Nugent <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Computer Support Officer Faculty of Science University of Southern Queensland, Toowoomba Oueensland Australia -=*#*=-=*#*=-=*#*=-=*#*=-=*#*=-=*#*=-=*#*=-=*#*=-=*#*=-=*#*=-=*#*=-
