? how do I set system time ?

My system time is about one and a half hours behind.

How do I set system time ?

I've tried
 date 110718301998
 sync
 reboot
but the system time is still the same behind.

 I'm using slakware 3.5.0, but I didn't install everything.
Someone suggested rdate, but I don't have rdate installed.
Will rdate update the system time even after a reboot ?
