Dearest;
How are you today?
I have a few problems which need you advices..please..
OK, I have a Redhat 5.2 Linux box which can ping to outside world
anywhere by using raw IP or legal domain names such as ping
www.honda.com and I can receive the reply packets from the honda
server in USA.
But when I using the Netscape Navigator and try to browse the
Web....then after a long time I still not be able to see anything
appear on my browser screen(web pages, grpahic etc.) So what is happen
here? Do you have any ideas? Same thing happen is when I can
successfully connected to cs.anu.edu.au site to get latest ppp-2.3.7
file. I can ftp to the site and login
but when I try to "get" the ppp file, my Linux box behave just as I
try to browse the web using the Netscape. The Linux box is keeping the
connection with the ftp server, but I can not receive any bytes of
data from the remote ftp server (cs.anu.edu.au)?
Another problem is...um...I have a modem which is connected to my
/dev/ttyS4 port (I have a 8 ports serial card on my Linux server (RH
5.2) that is why I use /dev/ttyS4 apart from the Linux default 4
serial ports /dev/ttyS0 - S3. These 8 ports have been configured as
well. I can use all these 8 ports to connected to modems....I think.
Anyway, I can use the following command (echo "ATDT93478277 /n" >
/dev/ttyS4) to ring my fax (the fax and the modem are using different
phone lines) in my office. Well my fax can receive the call from my
modem. So dose it means that my modem and my /dev/ttyS4 is working?
Then when I use Dip and try to configure the modem on the /dev/ttyS4
port. But every time, when I get into the terminal mode(term in Dip),
then I have to wait for a long time for any character I typed to be
appear in the screen. SO why it is so slow? Anyway that I can make the
character to be appear on the screen faster? Or I have missed
configure something in Linux?
Hope have your assistance soon!
Have a lovely day!
Luy ya,
Paul
