First off, why depend on KDE to be able to be connected? What you do here is, write the scripts yourself. Then start up PPP from the command prompt. Its much better than Kppp. Plus, if you wanted to exit from KDE you wouldn't lose your internet connection. So, take my advice, write the scripts yourself. There are plenty of How-to's out there. If you read them, its fairly simple.
