These are the entries in my /etc/mail

[marius@argon mail]$ ls -l
total 7
-rw-r--r--   1 root     root            0 Sep 21  1998 deny
-rw-r--r--   1 root     root        16384 May 17 13:40 deny.db
-rw-r--r--   1 root     root           22 May 17 23:01 ip_allow
-rw-r--r--   1 root     root            0 Sep 21  1998 name_allow
-rw-r--r--   1 root     root            0 Sep 21  1998 relay_allow

You may notice that relay_allow is actually empty

I use ip_allow instead

At a minimum you need

127.0.0.1

and you can add some individual hosts, and subnets (put in your numbers)

192.0.0.1
192.0.0
192.0

You get the picture. If you prefer, you can also set up name_allow in a
similar manner.

Then restart sendmail.

BTW be careful not to open yourself up as open spam relaying channel...
