A couple questions for you:
    1) Do you have anything else using IRQ 10?  (cat /proc/interrupts).
Maybe a simple (or not-so-simple) conflict.  I'm learning that Linux doesn't
handle sharing serial IRQs with non-serial devices...big surprise to me!
    2) Is it a "win-modem"?

I have a ActionTec modem that is a PCI-based non-winmodem.  It is configured
exactly the way you listed below.  So, if you have no conflicts and it is
not a winmodem, you should be all set!
